Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hardwood Machinist to join our team. As a Hardwood Machinist, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining machinery used in the processing of hardwood materials. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in hardwood machining, possess precision skills, and be capable of producing high-quality hardwood products.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Machine Operation:
    • Set up and operate machinery such as planers, jointers, saws, and other woodworking equipment for processing hardwood materials.
    • Ensure accurate dimensions and high-quality output in accordance with project specifications.
  2. Material Selection and Preparation:
    • Select and prepare hardwood materials for machining, considering factors such as wood grain, moisture content, and quality.
    • Collaborate with team members to optimize material usage and minimize waste.
  3. Quality Control:
    • Conduct thorough quality checks on finished hardwood products to ensure they meet design specifications and quality standards.
    • Make adjustments to machines as needed to maintain consistent product quality.
  4. Maintenance and Repair:
    • Perform routine maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance.
    • Identify and troubleshoot issues with machinery, making necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
  5. Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to hardwood machining.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Hardwood Machinist, demonstrating expertise in the machining of hardwood materials.
  • Proficient in the operation and maintenance of woodworking machinery, including planers, jointers, and saws.
  • Strong understanding of hardwood characteristics, grain patterns, and machining techniques.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational training or certification in woodworking or hardwood machining is preferred.
